Bill & Ted stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter set to reunite AGAIN – 35 years after their iconic film came out

It has been 35 years since the world was introduced to Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

The two stars will reunite in 2025 to co-star in a new adventure.

They are taking their talents to Broadway to star in the latest adaptation of Samuel Beckett’s existential classic Waiting for Godot.

‘We’re incredibly excited to be on stage together and work with the great Jamie Lloyd in one of our favorite plays,’ Reeves, 59, and Winter, 59, said in a joint statement.

Reeves – who is known as the nicest guy in Hollywood – makes his Broadway debut as Estragon and Winter will be Vladimir in the play which will run in 2025 in an as-yet- to-be-disclosed theater on the Great White Way.

Reeves and Winter became instant friends when they starred in Bill & Ted in 1989, the film went on to become a cult classic and the two actors reprised their roles for sequels in 1991 and 2020.

They clicked instantly upon meeting, something they both acknowledge as rare.

‘That happens in life very rarely,’ Winter told SyFy Wire. ‘We have a very similar perspective. Keanu is a very smart fella, and I enjoy his intellect and the way he looks at the world. And we laugh our butts off.’

‘I think of him as my brother,’ Reeves said in an interview with the New York Times.

‘We enjoy each other’s company and our thoughts and takes on the world. When we come together, it’s like, ‘What are you thinking?’ ‘I don’t know, but this is kind of funny.’ ”Yeah, that’s kind of weird too.”

Waiting for Godot centers on two men, Vladimir and Estragon, who meet up and have conversations throughout the play. The passage of time is marked by the tree they meet at.

In the beginning of the play, it is barren, but as the scenes progress, it begins to grow leaves again.

The official logline for the play states: ‘In Waiting for Godot, two wandering tramps, Vladimir and Estragon, wait by a lonely tree, to meet up with Mr. Godot, an enigmatic figure in a world where time, place and memory are blurred and meaning is where you find it. The tramps hope that Godot will change their lives for the better.’

The original play was written in French by Irish playwright Samuel Beckett between 1948 and 1949 and made its world premiere in Paris in 1953.

The new production of Godot will be helmed by Jamie Lloyd. His credits on Broadway include Sunset Blvd,, Cyrano de Bergerac and Romeo & Juliet, among others.

Lloyd said, ‘It is a real honor to be collaborating with the brilliant Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter on Samuel Beckett’s sublime masterpiece – one of the greatest plays of all time,’ per Deadline.

Waiting for Godot is produced by The Jamie Lloyd Company, ATG Productions, Bad Robot Live and Gavin Kalin Productions. 101 Productions will serve as general manager.
